Every eye exam at While Opticians is a comprehensive, 30-40 minute process designed to give you the best care possible. Personalised Consultation: We begin with a chat about your lifestyle, general health, and any vision concerns. This allows us to tailor the examination to your specific needs. Advanced Screening: Using a variety of techniques, such as Tonometry for glaucoma detection, Perimetry for visual field mapping, and hospital-grade OCT scans (optical coherence tomography) to capture the inside of your eye, we thoroughly check for both common and rare conditions. Clear Results & Recommendations: Once your examination is complete, we provide a detailed breakdown of your results and discuss any necessary steps, whether it's updating your prescription or scheduling follow-up tests.
We begin by understanding your vision needs and medical history to personalise your eye examination.
We use Tonometry to check for glaucoma and Perimetry when needed to assess peripheral vision, crucial for detecting early signs of glaucoma or neurological conditions.
Retinal Photography, Using our hospital-grade OCT machine we can look deeper into the layers of the retina to monitor eye health and detect early signs of conditions such as Glaucoma, Macula Degeneration and Diabetic retinopathy.
If the Optometrist deems it appropriate, we may perform a dilated fundus examination by instilling eye drops to have a better look inside the eye. In this instance, you will be advised to not drive post-dilation as the drops will blur your vision temporarily for a few hours.
At the end of your exam, we’ll walk you through your results in a simple, easy-to-understand way. If needed, we'll help you choose new eyewear, schedule follow-up tests, or refer you to a specialist for more advanced care.
